Community Outreach and Media Management

Client: Jefferson Ave. Apartment and Commercial Development Team: People Inc., Sinatra & Company Real Estate, CSS Construction and Bellamy Enterprises, LLC

Issue: The Development Team wanted to introduce their development plan to a minority community that has experienced years of urban decline and very little community development investment. The development team hired Jackson Parker Communications to plan, promote and moderate a community meeting.

Solution: Jackson Parker evaluated the need and advised the client that it would be important to develop messaging and promotional items that were inspirational, inclusive and engaging. We developed an integrated communications plan to reach the targeted audiences in a short time period. The plan included the development of key messaging for the client and development of a media alert and press release. Our creative team developed print advertisement for placement in community publications and promotional items such as flyers for distribution and a postcard for direct mail to reach a diverse audience. Additional design work such as a podium sign, sign in sheets and an agenda were developed to reinforce the branding and messaging. The final product was a written summary of the community meeting.

Result: The community meeting was well attended with almost 100 attendees. The audience was engaged asking numerous questions and providing comments about the development project. The community meeting was covered by the leading news publication, The Buffalo News, and two local television news stations.
